The length of this preamble will normally be set as short as possible to minimize power while insuring that it will be
reliably detected given the receiver characteristics, such as duty cycling and packet error rate performance.

The sync word follows the preamble in the packet structure and is used to identify the start of the payload data and
to synchronize the receiver to the transmitted bit stream.

If the preamble is too short there is not sufficient time for the RX path to be set up correctly before the real data starts coming in and hence there will be a degradation in sensitivity.

The sync word is used for byte synchronization. It is strongly recommended to use a 4 bytes.
Reducing the sync word length to less than 4 bytes and choosing a bad sync word will likely have a negative impact on the packet error rate.
