Are you sure?
Haven't you read a 30 page PIC24 errata datasheet before? And there are still many undocumented silicon erratas.

Microchip does very poor job on SPI, I2C, and UART silicon layout.

After we learned some lesson, we normally don't use any PIC less than 2 years old for mass product.
