I use a pickit2, mostly for programming and not for debugging.
it is very easy to use, reliable and versatile: you can use it as a logic analyzer (with additional software from microchip, free), and it can calibrate mid-range chips' OSSCAL data.
pickit3 is newer, but each time you switch a chip, it has to download new os to the programmer, and it cannot be used as a logic analyzer (yet).

不是给MICROCHIP做广告,ICD2本来就很容易在仿真时候出问题。如果要买,就买MICROCHIP原厂的ICD2,虽然也容易出问题。但至少能保证出了问题你可以得到客服的技术支持。但就是很贵,microchip原厂出的ICD2好像是900把。
可以试一试pickit2 pickit3
